Complex mass renormalization in EFT

چکیده
We consider an effective field theory of unstable particles (resonances) using the complex-mass renormalization. As an application we calculate the masses and the widths of the ρ meson and the Roper resonance.

Renormalization of EFT for nucleon-nucleon scattering
The renormalization of EFT for nucleon-nucleon scattering in nonperturbative regimes is investigated in a compact parametrization of the T -matrix. The key difference between perturbative and nonperturbative renormalization is clarified. The underlying theory perspective and the ’fixing’ of the prescriptions for the T -matrix from physical boundary conditions are stressed.

The virtues of an effective field theory (EFT) approach to many-body problems are illustrated by deriving the expansion for the energy of an homogeneous, interacting Fermi gas at low density and zero temperature. A renormalization scheme based on dimensional regularization with minimal subtraction leads to a more transparent power-counting procedure and diagrammatic expansion than conventional ...

متن کاملThe tail effect in gravitational radiation-reaction: time non-locality and renormalization group evolution
We use the effective field theory (EFT) framework to calculate the tail effect in gravitational radiation reaction, which enters at 4PN order in the dynamics of a binary system. The computation entails a subtle interplay between the near (or potential) and far (or radiation) zones. In particular, we find that the tail contribution to the effective action is non-local in time, and features both ...
